The House of Wills

Contributed by Ben

In Cleveland, Ohio a large three story manor stands as testament to a bygone era . This former funeral home was once a meeting place for grieving families. Some claim that the dearly departed still roam the labyrinthine halls searching for a way to break their mortal coils. Others believe the edifice to be the location of a portal to the other side. Do the souls of the dead inhabit this location? Do phantoms remain, searching for eternal salvation?

During its run as a hospital the mansion was the site of quite a few deaths and suicides. The last death to occur on the property was recorded in 2006 when a man was shot and bled to death on the front doorstep. Visitors to this location have reported seeing shadow people as well as hearing disembodied footsteps. Walking the halls of the building, one may hear someone call out their name only to find that there is no other person around. A former owner of the home passed away on the premises. There have been several sightings of a figure wearing a suit, with some speculating that it is this same soul. We have come across one account from a witness who claims to have seen some sort of vortex. While in the ballroom/casket display room the witness claims to have seen a swirling vortex appear for several moments.

What *is* that?

A friend of mine allowed me to post these two photos of her son's kindergarten graduation party this past spring. She wants to know what you think that white, tornado-looking thing is near the door.

She attests that there was nothing like that in the room at the time and she has seen similar phenomena is other photos. I'm trying to convince her to send me the other photos, too...

Her explanation:
It was in like 5 other pics [...] at different angles...He's had them in tons of pics since he was a baby. His aunt and I think it's his paternal grandma who passed a month before I met his dad...

Well, what do you think?

*Obviously, I masked the identities of the other kids.

Prospect Place Pics

On May 16th 2010, The Shadowseekers had the opportunity to do an investigation at Prospect Place in Trinway Ohio. This place was awesome, the architecture and the history alone are reasons enough to visit this place, the fact that it is haunted is just a lil added adventure. During our time there we had several personal experiences. We also had some intelligent activity as well, me and one of my investigators Chris Sustersic was doing an evp session in one of the rooms and we were asking yes and no questions and asking 1 knock for no and 2 knocks for yes. We were getting very distinct knocks in response to our questions. We also got some lighting movement in the ballroom and about 20 secs later you heard a man sigh as if he were bored, we do have this on video which we are working on getting posted. We had alot of movement in the barn where a bounty hunter was hung. In the basement another one of my investigators Richard Mccourt had an experience where the table in the center of the room moved a good foot, another investigator Jeff Downing heard the table move but he was in another room in the basement. When they tried to move the table on their own it was very heavy. Richard is a huge skeptic if it doesn't hit him in the face he doesn't believe it but that night he became a believer. During the course of the night we had camera problems and audio problems and even car problems when we went to leave the next morning, my car battery was completely dead. All in all this was an awesome location, and i would recommend to all paranormal groups if you get the chance to investigate Prospect Place, Do It!! It's a lot of pics I know I wouldn't think you would use them all.

Twin City Opera House - McConnelsville, Ohio

On Saturday Jan 23rd 2010 we did our investigation at The Twin City Opera House and let me tell you it was an awesome experience. We would like to thank COGS for hosting it for us, they are a great bunch of guys very friendly and well informed on the history of the Opera House. We had access to the entire place. Some of the ghost we encountered were a 10 yr old lil girl named Elizabeth and a gentleman named Robert who enjoyed red wine. After we got set up we started out on the catwalk with and ghost meter and our new piece of equipment the k2. We also set up some trigger objects a bottle of red wine and some candy for Elizabeth. All setting on some baby powder. So we began asking questions and almost immediately we got some activity the EMF started to go off and the k2 was going nuts. We asked questions like if you are here plz light up all the lights on the k2 and within a few seconds they lit up, and we do have this on video. So we left for a little bit to explore other areas and we returned about an hour later to find a lil finger print in the powder now during this time we were gone no one else was on the catwalk, we have this on a picture, unfortunately it didn't show up on video. Out in the auditorium we got some hits on the ghost meter which COGS said they never had before. In the basement we got a pic of the black mist which we are very happy about, We got a ton of EVPs and pictures that we will be posting soon, Later in the evening me and my lil sister were in the catwalk alone and we got some serious activity from red wine Robert which we do have on video. Come to find out Robert likes the ladies, lol. With two ladies up there he was very active we got some responses on the k2 when questions were asked and on the ghost meter, we even got touched a few times. I have a part on video where someone was tugging on my pants and you can see on the video my pants moving. This place was awesome and we had a great time meeting new friends and catching awesome activity, I would have to say The Shadowseekers will return to The Twin City Opera House again to do another investigation. My husband who is a skeptic actually got touched and was amazed and now he believes. In the basement we did have some technical difficulties but it was all good in the end. Once again a huge Thanks goes out to COGS for hosting the hunt.
Thank You

Canal Visitors Center in Valley View Ohio

A month or so ago, we had my stepson for a few weeks. He is 15, so we tried to find some cool things to keep him entertained and decided to go to a few things that were rumored to be haunted. One of the places we went was the Canal Visitors Center or Hell's Half Acre in Valley View. We went there around 12:30 or so on a Friday night and just took a bunch of random pictures. Well, one of the pictures, we were trying to get pictures of the inside of the building. The picture that was taken, was taken just out front of the house while standing on the front porch on the outside looking in. Me, being the complete retard that I am, didn't realize what the flash would do. So basically, you see the camera's reflection and my lovely finger nails. Then, when you look closer, on the camera lenses, on the lower left part of the lens you see a face. I see a man with a cowboy hat and a bandanna on his face. What do you think? I have zoomed up on it, so you can see the image. I also got a few more pictures with "things" on it, however, no where nearly as obvious as this. The next day, we went into the building, looking for pictures, anything that may have explained this...a possible reflection of something? We weren't able to find anything. Hmmm.....

Have a good one!

Quail Hollow Cemetery

In a town known as Hartville, Ohio in Northeastern Ohio is a state park; Quail Hollow. This was one of the first settlements in this area with the houses still on the property right down the road from the Hartville Pie Factory, once known as the Wild Boar Tavern many moons ago and was part of the underground railroad. At Quail Hollow there is a super old cemetery (late 1700's to 1800's). A few of my friends and I have gone there on a few occasions. The first time I went by myself at night (yea it was freaky) and I could hear a woman humming on a path right behind the graveyard. I looked over there and didn't see anyone at first but at a second glance saw a woman in a white gown smiling weakly. I left quickly, hearing footsteps right behind me while I felt a presence following me. Many, many, many more stories occurred (if you'd like to know just e-mail me at Hippieboi@aol.com). Anywho, I went snapping pictures randomly one night there one night and noticed the one picture was COVERED in orbs. I tried recreating it thinking it might have been dust, water something. I couldn't do it. And if examined closely, some of the orbs are actually illuminating from behind a few of the leaves. Heres the pic!!!!

Squire's Castle Photo

Hello,
I had just found your website while talking with family about Squires Castle.
I have lived in the Lake Co. area my whole life and have been going there since I was very small. I now take my kids there-
Each trip I am always taking pictures of the castle. Last year on Mother's Day, we took the kids to the park and I decided to start taking pictures with my children in different places of the castle to later put together in a frame all together. I have had that picture on the bookshelf and never really looked at it.
While on my computer looking at the 'ghost' in my house that I happened to catch on film we decided to look closer at all the pictures that I had taken at the castle to see if there was anything caught.
Well, upon looking at the umpteenth picture, we saw it! I have a picture of a shadow looking out of the castle towards my son. I know for a fact there was no one in the castle at the time I took the picture. I have had way to many pictures ruined because of some nut case making faces while I was snapping pictures-
Anyway I thought that you might find the picture as interesting as we all did. Look in the window on the left of the photo, under the 'stripes' - The next photo is a close up of that window.

I also wanted to tell you what a GREAT site you have put together! I found myself reading into the wee hours of the morning to all the information that you have.
Keep up the good work-

Frazee House, Pilgerruh Cemetary (off Canal Road/Tinkers Creek Rd.)

This past weekend I went on a Urban Legends Tour of the Cuyahoga Valley National Park. We stopped at the Frazee House which belongs to the park system and is located off Canal Road, just south of the visitor's center. As we roamed around the exterior of the home I snapped some pictures...I later got home and enlarged them and changed the brightness to see if I saw anything unusual...Do you see what I see? Supposedly a Native American Indian was held at this home as a slave and was killed.
The second picture was taken at Pilgerruh Cemetery in the same area. It is likely the oldest cemetery in Ohio. You would never know the cemetery existed if someone didn't show you or tell you where it is...you have to walk up a long dirt hill and past a grassy field. There are no signs whatsoever to tell you there is a cemetery. The cemetery cannot be seen from the road. There isn't a parking lot and you can't drive to it. Anyways, it was just me and my sister walking around and I heard the kids yelling and laughing, so I turned to her and said "I guess were not alone, do you hear those kids?" She looked at me with a blank stare and shook her head no. The voices were pretty loud and clear to me so I was somewhat surprised. We walked down this small hill approaching the graves and I asked her again, "You don't hear those kids?" She said "Well, I think I hear something, but turn around and take a picture anyways." So, this is the picture I took. We never did see any kids in the area...

The Undeveloped Photo

from: Chris Smith

When I developed the roll of film with the Witch Grave pics, the associate at the photo op. explained that a couple of photo's didn't develop. Well the next week, I took the negatives to a different place and had them develop just the strip of film that didn't show the first time. I was floored to find this picture of what appears to be a skull-like ghostly apparition. Like I said before, it was a clear night. As a matter of fact, take a look at the sky in the previous witch grave photo - YOU CAN SEE THE STARS IN THE CLEAR NIGHT SKY WITH THE ADDED BONUS OF A SHOOTING STAR JUST LEFT OF CENTER!! I find it creepy that a star decided to enter the atmosphere at the very instant I snapped a shot of the grave! With that in mind & the skull-like mist, we've got quite a haunted spot. It gives me shivers to think something was there in my precense. Something that did not want to be photographed until the second try. Lucky thing that I developed that last strip, huh?

Hi, my family and I visited the Mansfield Reformatory on Sunday, August 27th. I think this is an orb above the light fixture?? Or is it just dust?

Let me know what you think

Ghosts

from: Chris Smith

ok chuck, i'm glad you got the picture if the gore orphanage ghost, but i notice you are having trouble spotting the boy. if you can, just enlarge the photo and check out the right side where i circled him. he's dark haired with a white shirt and dark pants - very vague but he's there! blink your eyes a couple times and try not to strain so hard. anyways - i wanted to tell you about that Fairport Harbor ghost tour. well, guess what?? i work as a dj at one of the tour hot spots, Fritz's Roadhouse Bar. i sent you a picture of how pictures develop when taken in that bar. also i have personally witnessed lights going out, faces in the wood grained doors and chills from the eerie basement. that place is creepy. if you have any questions about that bar, or other Fairport spooks, just ask. I used to live there too! on another note - included are pictures of the schoolhouse off of Booth Rd. & the Witches Grave just around the corner from it. there is mist around the grave, but that night was clear. i know it sounds like i'm just obsessing, but if you visit these places, you'll know what i mean. Lastly, i have included pics of the bridge on Wisner Rd. Notice the streaks of light? Well, there are houses behind the bridge, but it was midnight then and the homes were dark. my camera, by the way, is a brand new Canon & i use 800 speed film, so these pics are something else! i hope you can show this entry on your site. i bet you'll get a lot of hits! thanks again - chris. P.S. THE PICTURES FILE NAMES ARE INCORRECT BUT I'M SURE YOU'LL BE ABLE TO IDENTIFY WHICH PIC IS WHICH. . .

Photograph of Ghost Boy at Gore Orphanage

from: Chris Smith

I hope this gets posted. I have been intrigued by the story of Gore Orphanage since I read about it years ago. Yesterday, I finally visited the location. I took camera's and shot pictures of every interesting angle I could. The stone pillar, the rocks, the river and one of the corn field. I found, in one photograph, an image of a ghost boy. Very Creepy. Check it out - decide for yourself. I also found a masonry nail on the site. I heard a noise and looked in the direction. . .I bent over, moved a rock and there it was. All rusty and corroded. I kept the relic as a souvenir. I heard children laughing, and maybe a grunt or moan. It was all very faint, and it was daytime, but it was enough to keep me interested. Also, a stone fell from the sky. As if maybe someone was up in a tree trying to prank us. Well they succeeded. I jumped 3 ft. and my friend's and I all kinda laughed it off. Lucky it didn't hit me, I'd have been the thing to be afraid of then! Anyways, I hope these pics illustrate the factual evidence of a ghost boy ( Jacob? ). You decide. THE GHOST IS LOCATED IN THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE WOODS IN THE PIC. I CIRCLED IT WITH A FAINT BLACK OVAL CIRCLE. THERE MAY EVEN BE ANOTHER BOY STANDING NEXT TO HIM. SPOOKY AS HELL.

Webmaster Note: The circle is really hard to see. And once I found it I didn't see anything that looked like a person. What am I missing? - Chuck
